Pregnancy Journey

Pregnancy Journey

I first found out I was pregnant after puking really bad after a bout of drinks. Which is unusual. The foetus was just a sac at that point in time, without a heartbeat.

Being married for such a short time, I was clearly not exactly ready to be a mother. Personally I would have wanted more personal time to be with my husband to build a stronger marriage but I guess God has other plans in store for us.

I do not particularly enjoy my pregnancy journey. Most of the time I feel bloated and do not have the appetite that other mums have.

In the first trimester, I lost weight. If you’re like me, do not fret. The smell of cooking in the air turns me off big time and I detest the taste of meat. The only sustenance I could force myself to swallow were waffles, bread and more waffles. Jeremy said he hadn’t had so much waffles in his entire life till this period of time. I guess we always have our firsts! I was tired but insisted to continue working as it would bore me just staying at home. My tummy to most was barely visible at that point in time but I was always conscious about how I look. The first image above was taken during the end of my first trimester, entering second trimester.

Second trimester is supposedly the best period of a pregnancy. I would agree as that’s also when my energy was back and I could go on a baby moon with Jeremy. We chose to go to Perth as tickets were cheap at that point in time. I could eat a lot more as well. Only con of this period is that my baby bump was starting to show. Mobility was still alright for me. I was still lifting weights and doing squats at the gym. Look to the image above to see how I was like in the second trimester!

I’m in my third trimester now. In fact, I’m left with a month to pop. Third trimester hasn’t been very pleasant for me but the experience varies for each pregnancy… or so I heard. My belly is getting heavier and bulky. It affects my sleep. The baby in me is moving so much that at times it is annoying. I visit the toilet at least thrice a night and that disrupts my sleep. Lying down facing up is hard but lying sideways doesn’t exactly help either. I can’t help but hope that the baby comes out sooner. Everyone tells me that my appetite will grow but that doesn’t seem to be happening. I probably gained 12 kg now but the baby is only 2.5kg. The baby was 1.9kg two weeks before and the gynae talked about having to induce the birth of the baby if the baby still doesn’t gain sufficient weight to be considered healthy. Along my pregnancy journey, I went for body massages to help alleviate the aches in my lower back and legs. Let me share with you more here in the next post!
