Gardens By The Bay – Mid Autumn Festival Ed

15TH September 2021 was the official launch of the Mid Autumn Festival event at Gardens By The Bay (GBTB). That explains the crowd at GBTB when Jeremy and I arrived there at 7PM.

The lantern displays this year is based on the theme “Blessings” whereby symbols of longevity and wealth are presented in the hopes that it will bring about health and better days for visitors. Located strategically at the entrance of the garden, it is not difficult to spot the centrepiece of this lantern display – two rabbits holding a sky lantern against a mountainous backdrop.

Continue walking in towards the centre of GBTB and you will pass by lighted lanterns in the shape of rabbits. Unfortunately, the place was so crowded that taking an image of the rabbits proved difficult.

Near Shake Shack lies two hanok-shaped lanterns with LED screens showcasing digital artworks by Korean traditional artists. I am not a very artsy person and hence have difficulty appreciating this particular exhibit.

Continue your journey and pass by ceilings of lighted paper lanterns. These lanterns are all individually hand-painted by the Singaporean community from all kinds of background. I like this display best. It is simple, colorful and exudes a vibrant energy.

Some exhibits are situated in the Flower Dome and you’re required to purchase a ticket at SGD12 if you’re keen to look at them. They are having a promotion till 3 October 2021 where kids under the age of 13 are allowed to enter for FREE!

Jeremy and I managed to catch the lights show when we were there. I quite like the lights show this time round.. I don’t remember enjoying it as much the first time I was here catching the show about 8 years ago.

All in all, it’s not too bad a stroll if you’re looking for somewhere to go at night to chill in Singapore. Bring your dog along too if you have one!
